A quick history..

If you were to ask me how I got into photography I would probably talk about nine years ago when I got my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel XTi. Although, when I really think about it I can't say that my journey started there.

As a child I was forever sneaking our family camera and snapping shots of whatever I could point a camera at, much to the dismay of my mother who would have to pay to develop the film. My eye wasn't as seasoned back then, so there were quite a lot of not so great photos… cough cough.. Sorry mom..

From there my skill, creativity and passion continued to grow and my interest turned into a hobby and eventually a career when my blog posts caught the eye of my now full time employer. I was lucky enough to graduate from the University of Guelph with my dream job working in agricultural media. I love shooting on farm working with farmers and animals, but there was still one little piece of my puzzle missing which brings this story to the present day. I am drawn to human connection and capturing moments between loved ones. I love working with couples and families and having an absolute blast with people creating beauty behind the lens of a camera, so Split Rail Photography was born.

I absolutely love photography. I love looking at the world through my lens and capturing moments that come and go in the blink of an eye. I love seeing the excitement and anticipation of a couple looking into their future or the warmth in parents eyes as they looks at their beautiful family. More than all of that I love knowing that my clients have beautiful lasting memories that they will cherish for years to come. The camera has been upgraded multiple times since the beginning, and the talent and experience has improved and evolved, but the girl with the passion is still the same. I still have much that I can learn, we never really stop learning or growing.

"Beth is amazing to work with and I would highly recommend her for a wide range of photography needs. I decided to get Beth to do some photos for me to boost my morale and help with body image. Photo shoots aren't something I feel comfortable with, but Beth made me feel so natural. It was a great afternoon & she captured exactly what I was looking for. The photos turned out amazing. She also did professional headshots for me a couple years ago, which to this day I still get compliments on."
